Striker Ryan Francis signed a one-year agreement with the Montreal Canadiens’ Laval Rockets in the American Hockey League, on Monday.

The 20-year-old completed his time in the junior ranks last season, scoring 25 goals and 40 assists for 65 points in 54 appearances for the St. John Sea Dogs at QMJHL.

He also played four games with Stockton Heat, Calgary Flames farm club. They recruited him in the fifth round, at 143rd, of the 2020 National League Amateur Auction.

However, the Alberta organization ceded its rights to Francis last month. Nova Scotian also wore the Cape Breton Eagles costume at Corto.

Later in the afternoon, Laval agreed a similar deal with another Halifax attacker, Brennan Solnier.

The latter played for the Philadelphia Flyers affiliate network in 2021-22.

With the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, AHL, he has six points in 43 games, and amassed 88 minutes of penalty kicks. He added four goals and several assists in eight games for the Reading Royals in ECHL.
