The Quebec family member behind the “Apple Vision Pro”

The Quebec family member behind the “Apple Vision Pro”

The first augmented reality headset, “Vision Pro,” unveiled by Apple on Monday, was invented by Quebecer Bernard Neveu, a tech entrepreneur, before selling it to Apple for $40 million. The helmet was previously called “totem” and was very successful.

This helmet, which makes it possible to create a virtual environment superimposed on reality, is a source of pride for the person who, after twelve years of hard work, helped in this process.

“So many emotions, pride, and so much work,” Bertrand Nepveu, Co-Founder and Partner, Triptyq Capital, commented. He began working with Nirvana in 2005 and developed the “predecessor” of the “Vision Pro” virtual headphone before selling it to Apple.

For Mr. Nepview, an augmented reality headset can improve everyday life. “The advantage is that we can also do virtual work, at the same time as augmented reality. We see the real world, but we can also be in an immersive environment,” he specifies.

His desire to create an augmented reality headset stems from his love of video games. He just wanted to play XBOX 360 with virtual reality. At first he had a vision, but he lacked the technological tools to push him to achieve his dream.

While technology is constantly evolving, Bertrand Nepveu succeeded in proving to Apple that it was possible to see augmented reality thanks to cameras.

The tech entrepreneur has a very positive view of the augmented reality headset. For him, it is only a matter of time before we incorporate it into our daily lives. “In my opinion, in five years every family will have at least one headphone in the house to interact with. In 10 years, everyone will have it as a personal tool,” he adds.
