While Sophie Pregent has just announced that she will not be running for president of the Union of Artists (UDA), her position is already coveted. “With joy and excitement, I announce today my candidacy for the presidency of the Artists Union in the upcoming elections,” the actor wrote on Twitter and Facebook.
“After thinking about it, I realized that my passion for so many deep issues of concern to Quebec culture could not have found a better way to express itself than within the Federation,” continued those who tried to be elected under the Party Quebec banner in Rosemont during the last provincial elections.
Sophie Pregent will step down next March after 10 years as president of the professional guild of nearly 13,000 artists.
The voting period to elect his successor will take place from March 20-23. The new president will take office on March 27.
