Normand Brathwaite, Jay A. LePage and “fake news”

Did you see this ad on Facebook that claims there's a big scandal at Radio-Canada, a big feud between Jay A. Lepage and Normand Brathwaite? It's a scam! The main person in question, Normand Brathwaite, is in Tabar*** and urges you not to fall into the trap. But honestly, when you look at this ad, it's so clearly false that I wonder how anyone could believe it's true.

Fake news

This ad, which aims to extract $300 from you to buy bitcoins, presents itself as text Journalism (With the real logo of this newspaper). The title is amazing. “Big scandal: ICI Télé management refuses to make comments about its employee Guy A. “LePage.”

You should already know because Jay A. Not an “employee” of Radio-Canada. But the first paragraph of this fake press transcript is completely fake: “During the live broadcast Everyone is talking about itA serious scandal broke out between host Jay A. Lepage and guest Normand Brathwaite. During a lively discussion, Guy A. LePage confirmed the validity of Normand Brathwaite's comments, calling him a liar in front of thousands of live viewers. In response to this incident, the channel's management decided to remove the interview from the broadcast, and refused to comment on Guy A. Lepage's position and behavior.

seriously? Is there anyone who read this and believed it? Do you really think Jay A. He would call Normand a liar in front of hundreds of thousands of people and that… the show could disappear from the airwaves with the wave of a magic wand? But if there are naive people who have not yet smelled fraud, then in the text we are swimming in surrealism.

That people believed this hideous scam and then clicked on the link that leads them to donate $300 to buy bitcoins and become as rich as Normand… leaves me speechless.

Naivety

On Wednesday, at QUB, Normand Brathwaite told me: “I'm not afraid of AI, I'm afraid of the people using AI.” He added: “Instead of finding it funny, I started to feel blessed, because you work your whole life to build a good reputation. What's more, their product is rubbish!

What's even more shocking is that these unscrupulous companies rely on the gullibility of vulnerable people!
