Margot Robbie prepares for her roles “like a psychopath”

Margot Robbie admitted that she was very involved in preparing her characters.

Australian actress Cillian Murphy told in a chat for Variety's Actors on Actors series that she tries to prepare as much as possible before filming the film.

However, during the coronavirus lockdown, she once went a little overboard with her preparations.

“I also prepare like a psychopath. I started preparing for as long as I could. I remember I started preparing for a role and then Covid happened, and I ended up preparing for that role for about a year. I felt like I was finally losing my mind.”

“My husband (Tom Ackerley) came over and I was making weird masks and stuff and I was covered in paint and he asked me: 'What are you doing?' He replied. This must end. I have to go to the group.”

The Wolf of Wall Street star films Amsterdam and Babylon in 2021 post-pandemic. This latest film, directed by Damien Chazelle, was initially scheduled to shoot in mid-2020.

The 33-year-old actress explained that she also covers her scripts with “a billion notes and ideas” in order to have a clear mind once she's on set.

“Because then I can arrive on set and be completely free. But if I wasn’t prepared, I would have been absolutely terrified,” she explained. (If I didn’t have a script), I would have put all these ideas on set instead of being Free.
