The carrier announced Friday that it wants to offer “affordable economy class options on Air Canada flights for flights to Canada, the United States and Cancun.”

More specifically, Air Canada intends to add about 6,000 seats on flights between February 25 and March 19 on routes operated by Lynx Air from Toronto and Montreal to Cancun, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

“Specific” prices.

This enhanced deal will provide options for Lynx Air passengers who were hoping to return home with the ultra-low-cost carrier, but whose ticket may turn out to be more expensive than expected.

Air Canada made clear to QMI that it does not intend to offer the same fares as Lynx.

“Prices will vary, but our commitment is to keep them at a reasonable level by ensuring that there is no unusual increase associated with a possible significant increase in demand at the last minute,” company spokesman Christophe Henebel said.

On Thursday, Lynx Air stunned the aviation world by announcing that it had placed itself under the protection of its creditors and that it would ground all its flights as of Monday, leaving its passengers in the lurch with just weeks to go.
