Whatsapp on iOS allows you to send photos in their original resolution

This new feature comes a few months after Whatsapp added a new feature for sharing photos and videos in high resolution.

Coming soon to Android

According to WaBetaInfo, this feature will be rolled out “in the coming weeks.” As noted by Tech&Co, a Whatsapp (iOS version) update in France now offers such an option. Meta’s messaging service has also been testing it with a few Android users since September.

These high-resolution photos and videos may take up storage space on smartphones. Android users will have to be careful because the weight of items saved by the messaging app will now be deducted from the 15GB free space offered by Google on Google Drive.

Previously, there were alternatives, which involved manually changing the file extension to PDF or DOC, to send photos and videos in their original resolution via Whatsapp. Removing this extra step greatly simplifies things.
