According to CDC estimates, the flu has caused at least 25 million illnesses, 280,000 hospitalizations, and 17,000 deaths this season in the United States.

In the last week ending January 21, around 4,000 people have been admitted to hospital with the flu, according to reports. Six flu-related infant deaths have been reported this week.

The CDC recommends that anyone older than 6 months get an annual flu shot as long as influenza activity continues.
