Paris, August 17 (Benin News) –

The Spanish national team advanced to the group stage of the U-20 World Cup with a 3-0 win over Australia on Wednesday to top the group and qualify for the quarter-finals.

Spain won the match at the Alejandro Moreira Soto Stadium in Alajuela thanks to a hat-trick from Inma Caparro, who has scored four goals in the competition. Although Pedro López’s side took the lead in the first minute through Ariadna Mingusa, they had to wait to take the lead.

Caparro opened the scoring at the far post in the 20th minute with a fine play from Julia Bartel and added her goal five minutes later when she headed in a long cross from Esther Laborde. With this lead, the national team kept trying and the Sevilla striker could have scored three goals at the break.

In the second half, Caparo completed the scoring with a superb shot from inside the box after a poor clearance by the Australian defence. This goal saw Spain overtake Brazil on goal difference and, as a result, lead the group.

Spain will now play in the quarter-finals on August 20 against Mexico, who finished second in their group behind Colombia. Pedro López’s side scored eight goals to keep the group level.
