The good doctor is coming to an end! ABC has confirmed that the seventh season of the medical series, scheduled to air in February, will be its last.

“As we prepare to bring this beloved story to a close, there are no words to express our gratitude to the incredible cast and crew and our partners at Sony and ABC Signature for the lasting impact they have made,” said Craig Erwich, Chairman of Disney Television. The group said in a statement.
Freddie Highmore, who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy, said: “Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been an absolute privilege and one of the most wonderful and rewarding experiences of my life.”

The series, which hit screens in 2017, revolves around Dr. Sean, an autistic surgeon. He ends up falling in love with his neighbor Leah, played by Paige Spara.
Freddie Highmore has previously spoken about the responsibility he feels playing the role. “You can't really hide behind other people and not create something original,” he said. I feel a great sense of responsibility to represent Sean as authentically as possible. I realize that we cannot – and should not try – to represent people with autism. »
