The Lot Department and its partners are once again collaborating with the Science Festival. As part of activities within the sensitive natural areas, several free meetings are scheduled for October in Fines, with the fox as a special guest.

Thursday, October 12 at the L’Atelier cinema in Fines (8:30 p.m., free admission), an evening of discussion about the film “The Smell of Cut Grass” by Frank Vigna. Produced in Lorraine, this documentary gives a voice to everyone involved in the life of the Fox. A hunter, a trapper, a scientist, a naturalist and two farmers offer their perspectives to help you form your own opinion about this animal, the subject of much debate. This will be followed by a discussion led by scientists and specialists on the subject, including Emmanuel Jacquot (French Society for the Study and Protection of Mammals) and Karine Gris (Le clos des vinsises – refuge/educational centre).

On the same day, Thursday, October 12 at 5:15 p.m., at the zoo, there will be a guided tour about the differences between the red fox and the arctic fox, feeding the animals, and a fun “useful/harmful” activity about the role of the fox. It is said to be intelligent and cunning but also fearful… We will follow the trail of a fox to explore our rich and complex relationship with the animal world. Keepers will provide a guided tour on the differences between red foxes and arctic foxes as well as special feeding.

During this time, part of the park team will be present at the Science Village set up this year in Montcock from October 11 to 14 to host a science mediation platform. Gramat Zoo exists to raise awareness among young and old about the richness of biodiversity and the importance of its conservation.

Until October 14, in the Gramat Municipal Library, an exhibition on the theme of the fox: photos, drawings, paintings, objects… (entry is free during opening hours).
