Costco Food Hall: You'll soon have to become a member to eat their famous hot dogs

The days of running through a Costco exit to buy a hot dog and a drink for just $1.50 may soon be over, as the company plans to require a membership card when paying at the food court.

At least that's what a poster at Costco in the US suggests. The latter was reportedly seen at a store in Orlando, Florida, according to a post on Reddit.

“Beginning April 8, 2024, an active Costco membership card will be required to purchase items in our food court,” the letter read.

Although this regulation of the warehouse chain has been around for a long time, employees have long been flexible about enforcing it, allowing people to sneak in to take advantage of a hot dog deal that has been in place since 1985.

Also note that Costco has begun installing scanners at the entrances to its stores to ensure better control.

People wishing to obtain prescription medications or schedule an eye exam are not required to be members. However, you must have your card to be able to purchase glasses or contact lenses from a warehouse.
