Apple warns of a security breach on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Apple has recommended that owners of certain iPhone, iPad and Mac models update the drivers, which has a vulnerability that allows them to take control of these devices.

iPhone 6s and later, all iPad Pros, iPads 5th generation and later, and Macs are affected, according to notices posted on Apple’s website.

According to Apple, in the old version of the driver, “an application can use an arbitrary code” with unnecessary access to the device, which means that a hacker can perform actions without permission.

“This possibility could have been actively exploited” by hackers, Apple says, without providing further details.

The group from Cupertino (California) adds that the vulnerability is also exploitable through “malicious Internet content”.

To remedy these shortcomings, Apple is urging users to download the iOS 15.6.1 driver version for iPhone, its iPadOS 15.6.1 driver version for iPad and macOS Monterey 12.5.1 for Mac computers.

The flaws, according to Apple, were reported by anonymous researchers.

The technology giant has made personal data protection and cyber security a dominant theme.

In April 2021, it disrupted the iPhone ecosystem by forcing apps to ask the user if they consent to the collection of data about their use of other apps and on the internet.

This iOS tweak deprived apps that rely heavily on ads, particularly Facebook or Snapchat, of valuable tools, which lost ad revenue as a result.
