After the conclusion of AEW Worlds 2023, Fightful evaluated MJF's future and according to their information MJF will be taking an indefinite leave of absence. MJF suffered some injuries after Full Gear 2023 as we mentioned in our previous articles and he still has not recovered.

Losing the title would be the perfect opportunity to give him a well-deserved break, but nothing is certain. The situation is worth observing as the former champion has a certain creative control and can change his future according to his desires.
