A homeowner’s nightmare: her house was ransacked and stained with urine

Lucy Guilbeault found her home, which she had been renting to a family for four years, in disrepair.

Broken windows and stained appliances were particularly unfortunate, while several rooms in the house smelled strongly of urine.

“We did a lot of work. We removed the floors and the basements and the smell of urine is still there,” says Lucy Guilbeault, a homeowner in Terrebonne.

After more than two months of work, the bill continues to grow.

“It’s not over yet. So far, my fees have reached $12,000. [pour remettre le logement dans un état acceptable] And I do a lot of work on my own. “I don’t know the total bill yet,” she says.

During an appearance on the 8:30pm program with Pierre-Olivier Zappa on LCN, Ms. Guibault wanted to add measures to protect owners.

She expressed her desire for the authorities to develop tools to eliminate bad tenants.

“I like to have a record of bad tenants and have a reasonable security deposit when I sign the lease,” she says.
