What changes with the new version of Google Chrome

Chrome’s latest update has just arrived with a major novelty: reading mode. In specific terms, here are the changes you should expect in your browser.

Reading Mode: The star of this update

The great novelty of version 114 of Google Chrome is its reading mode. Or, to be more precise, the possibility of activating it easily. Because the reading mode is already present in the browser of the web giant, but it was necessary to activate this mode in advance on the web page.

Now, for most users, reading mode can be accessed directly. A novelty that puts Chrome on par with its competitors, who were often more advanced in this field.

Very practical, the reading mode allows you to get an abbreviated version of a page. Thus getting rid of all the interferences and tricks that may be planning or advertising, it allows access to essential information in a way that does not harm focus.

It appears in the side panel of the browser, allowing you to always access the home page.

To access it, you need to click on the side panel icon, which is located to the right of the address bar, and activate reading mode there on the tab located in the upper left part of the side panel.

Note that you may not find the option yet on some computers, in which case you should activate it “the old fashioned way”, i.e. go to chrome://flags/#read-anything and enable reading mode, then restart google chrome.

The side panel is fully resizable, allowing you to limit yourself exclusively to reading mode whenever you want and then return to the page in its natural state to use features like search bars or hidden links.

Google Chrome is safer

The other new features in Chrome 114 are mostly technical. With many security vulnerabilities fixed and new capabilities for web page developers, such as the possibility of making web page text more balanced or even improving the cookie system.

It’s not a massive update aside from the long-awaited Reading Mode, but it does make browsing on Chrome safer for the consumer.
