A video of a citizen confronting a police officer for littering his property has gone viral in the UK.
A patrolman working for the Thames Valley Police Department in England was caught on a citizen’s surveillance camera throwing the crusts of his sandwich out the door of his vehicle.
The man then filmed himself on his phone and confronted the police officer. He asked her to take her garbage. He posted his conversation on TikTok.
“Why did you throw your garbage in front of my house? “, he said.
“I don’t litter. It’s just a sandwich crust,” replied the policeman stuttering.
“Oh yeah? So you think it’s okay to stop in front and throw lunch in front of my house?”, he replied.
“I’m going to file a complaint,” he continued. Take it, take it! “.
The officer then picked up the scabs and told the man to stop screaming.
The police station said it had met the officer concerned to “reflect” on his behaviour.
Environmental and anti-litter activists have pointed to the police officer’s behavior, pointing out that in the United Kingdom this type of gesture carries a fine of $4,180.
