Russia claimed on Sunday to have shot down Ukrainian drones in three Russian regions a day after a major drone attack by Moscow on the Ukrainian capital, which Kiev presented as the largest since the conflict began in February 2022.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, “The air defense destroyed four Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk, Smolensk and Tula regions.”
Russia said on Sunday that it shot down two Ukrainian missiles heading towards its territory over the Sea of Azov, hours after Ukrainian drone attacks were reported in three Russian regions.
A statement by the Russian Ministry of Defense said: “Russian air defense found and destroyed two Ukrainian missiles over the Sea of Azov region.”
On Saturday, Ukraine accused Moscow of launching 75 drone attacks on its territory, most of them towards the capital, Kiev, and claimed that it shot down 71 of them.
This attack resulted in the injury of five people, according to a report published by the authorities on Saturday, and also led to dozens of residential buildings and buildings being deprived of electricity.
The bombing occurred on Ukraine’s Holodomor Remembrance Day, the major famine of the 1930s that killed millions of Ukrainians, a “genocide” orchestrated by Joseph Stalin according to Kiev.
