The group, which until then had 400 stores and 12,500 employees, filed for bankruptcy in early August, hit by inflation in the United Kingdom and debts contracted with its suppliers.

Wilko will close its last 111 companies on October 3, 5 and 8 as part of the final phase of its bankruptcy, PwC said.

The brand, with its red and white logo, originated in the 1930s as a hardware store in Leicester, in the heart of the country, and soon expanded across the UK.
