Quebec awards $3 million to Quantum Space

The government contribution will help DistriQ provide professional services related to the development of Quantum Space and create the teams responsible for its operation. It is also intended to finance the operating costs of the space incurred by DistriQ during the first year. The total cost of the project is about 4.5 million.

This funding comes in addition to the $28.77 million that was announced last November to support the implementation of the Quantum Space 1 project.

It was Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, who made the announcement on Tuesday, accompanied by the Minister of Public Security and the Minister responsible for the Estrie region, François Bonnardel, and the member for Saint-François, Genevieve Hébert.

“EQ1 has the potential to become one of the best quantitative innovation centers internationally,” says Mr Fitzgibbon. And with the DistriQ Innovation Zone, we have all the tools to shine all over the world.

Recall that the 2023-2024 budget plan provided $100 million over five years in order to strengthen Quebec's position internationally in terms of innovation and facilitate the attraction of talent.
