In the middle of a hockey game, a spectator climbs the boards of the ice rink to bump into an referee. It happened last Friday in Trois-Rivières on the Circuit de Claude-Mongrain.
The incident occurred during a Quebec Hockey League tournament. Young hockey players are 13 years old. The match was between Collège Français and Corsaires Pointe-Lévy.
After he stopped playing during the first period, the person in charge of the stopwatch forgot to start the time on the clock. For several seconds, players played a time that showed 4:07 minutes.
It was at this moment that the spectator decided to take matters into her own hands. I left the stands to go closer to the ice. I first tried to get the referee’s attention by tapping on the bay window.
To no avail, the lady jumped onto her snowboard. In the video, we see her hitting the referee’s head to tell him the time wasn’t staggered. The lady seemed frustrated with the situation.
In the stands, we hear people questioning the lady’s behaviour. Finally the referees called to stop.
The person who took these pictures was watching his son play. This parent from the French college explained to TVA Nouvelles that everyone in the stands was amazed at the scene. Especially since this match did not have much meaning for both teams.
The tournament organizer confirmed the event. He explains to TVA Nouvelles that he has resolved this situation internally. He says he does not want to explain the incident any further. The match ended with a score of 3 to 2 for the French College.
