On Thursday, April 22nd, French astronaut Thomas Pesquet will take off from Cape Canaveral, Florida (USA) on a six-month mission aboard the International Space Station. This mission should prepare for the future of space exploration, with a return to the moon.
Thematic moon! Countdown. The most powerful missile ever is ready: The first flight is scheduled to begin at the end of 2021. In 2024, 52 years after the last Apollo mission, the crew must land again on the moon. The Earth and Moon voyage will take place in a classic capsule, but the moon landing is Billionaire Elon Musk’s reusable rocket That was chosen.
An investment of 26 billion euros for this international mission: Europe, Japan and Canada are involved. The moon is nothing but a necessary step for the true target: Mars. Crew selection and training is underway. The mission is named after the Greek goddess Artemis.
Two candidates stand out. The two are 42-year-old experienced astronauts: Anne McLean and Christina Koch. Artemis plans to build a space station that orbits the moon. Task Thomas Pescet, scheduled to take off on Thursday, April 22, includes experiments for a future moon station.
