The Twitter account of Ecolo’s co-chairman, Jean-Marc Nollet, has been hacked. The account has been in the hands of a certain “Vitalik.eth” since Friday evening, according to information from RTBF.

The photo and name of the co-chair of the Ecolo party have been changed, but the “V” certificate still appears on Jean-Marc Nollet’s profile.

Since Friday, the party has taken steps to restore the account through an electronic identification procedure. In response to a question from RTBF, Ecolo said he did not know who the owner of this hack was.

But who is “Vitalik.eth”?

The hacker has stolen the identity of Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Etherum, a decentralized exchange protocol that allows users to create smart contracts. The Russian-Canadian computer scientist active in cryptocurrency is included in Fortune magazine’s list of the 40 most influential people under the age of 40 in the economic world.

Ecolo claims that Jean-Marc Nollet will recover his account in the coming hours.
