Food Fortification: Actors were trained to use rapid test kits

Participants learned about good practices in food fortification.

The Ministry of Health, Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage (Mshpcmu), in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Service (Crs), recently organized a capacity building workshop for key stakeholders in the use of health kits.Rapid food fortification testing. The meeting, which took place over four days in Grand-Bassam, is part of a large-scale food fortification project in West Africa. Regarding the objectives of this workshop, the Country Director of the Red Cross in Côte d'Ivoire, Jacob Nyamien, indicated that it aims to raise participants' awareness of food fortification issues, and train stakeholders in the use of test kits and rapid assessments of food quantity. Micronutrients present in fortified foods and enhancing their capabilities to ensure effective monitoring and appropriate promotion of fortified foods.

The meeting included representatives of the technical departments responsible for oversight, quality control, and encouraging the consumption of fortified food from the various ministries participating in the project.

The workshop consisted of theoretical and practical training sessions on the use of rapid test kits, case studies, practical exercises, group discussions and feedback. Participants had the opportunity to share best practices, ask questions and deepen their knowledge of food fortification. The training was led by Anna Zinchuk of BioAnalyt.
