Eric Lapointe's children learned that their father was accused of assaulting a woman in the news, the singer revealed Sunday evening during an interview with journalist and columnist Sophie Durocher.

He was 7 and 8 years old at the time, and his children lived in shared custody, every two weeks with him. “For their protection, I did not talk to them about it,” he said.
“It was just that at one point the TV was on for the news…”, Sughni continued anything.
“They saw the TV with me leaving the courtroom, and they said, ‘Eric Lapointe is still in court.’ They turned completely white. They thought I was back in court for their custody,” the singer said, explaining that at that moment he decided to have the conversation that He was putting it off until then.

But his mother was one of the first people he informed when leaving the police station, after his arrest on September 30, 2019.
