“TVA no longer had the means to do a full season and we didn’t want to risk skipping a year,” recalled screenwriter and producer Michel Dastos.
And the budget for such tight historical series wasn’t astronomical, we’re talking about $800,000 to $900,000 an hour. Ten years before Our Summers, the Marguerite Volant series was being produced at a rate of one million an hour on Radio Canada.
