Boxing and athletics hit hit!

The sixth day of the JM-2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran (25 June – 6 July), which took place on Friday, allowed Algeria to enrich its medal harvest with six new gold medals, won thanks to boxing and athletics, while the national championship Women’s Handball and Basketball 3×3 teams were eliminated at the end of the second day of the first round.

Eagerly awaited by fans of the noble art, the boxing finals, contested at the Palais des Expositions in New Hay Mdina, attracted large crowds. No less than ten finals in which Algerians and women participated in the program were for this last day of discipline.

Among the four engaged boxers, Iman Khalif (63 kg), Hojaila Khalif (60 kg) and Boualem Al Roumisa (-48 kg), managed to rise to the top of the podium. On the other hand, Ishraq Shayeb (66 kg) won the silver medal.

On the other hand, the disappointment was great for Muhammad Saeed Hamani (91 kg), Muhammad Al-Hamri (81 kg), Younes Al-Namoushi (75 kg) and Osama Mardjan (57 kg) who failed to conquer the gold, and were content with the silver. Medal.

In the athletics events, contested at the Miloud Hadfi Olympic complex, Algerian Bilal Afar created the sensation of the day by winning the scarlet medal in the height competition, as he crossed a bar at a height of 2.24 meters, in front of the Syrian Majdeddine Ghazal (2.22 m) and his compatriot Hicham Bouhnoun (2.22 m). .

For his part, Al Mana Abdul-Malik Lahlou won the bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles, and finished the race with a time of 48.87, behind the Turkish Yasmani Escobar, who won the gold medal with a time of 48.27 and the French Ludvi Vilain (48.83).

In judo, Bouammar Mustafa, Yasser and Balerka Mohamed Sofiane (-100 kg and +100 kg) settled on the silver medal. Boumar, lost in the final at the hands of the Spaniard Charzadishvili, while Belraca lost his feathers to the Slovenian Dracic.

In the aquatic center of the Miloud Hadavi Olympic complex, the Algerian swimmers did not shine during the first day of swimming events. Jawad Sioud (50m butterfly) and Abdullah Arjun (100m backstroke) finished last in the finals for each of them.

At the end of the 4x200m freestyle relay (men), Algeria also finished last among the four participating teams.

Amal Malih failed to qualify for the 50m freestyle final, as she finished ninth in the heats, as did her colleague Nasreen Megahed, who finished 14th in 26s 15. 200m breaststroke. Finally, the national showjumping selection ended up with 4th place in the team competition, which was held at the “Etrier Oranais” Equestrian Center. The Algerian riders lost a bronze with a single rod after participating in the play-offs against Turkey.
