In an interview with Allure, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter spoke about healing from past pain.

“I did this thing where it seemed okay to figure out all the things that would hurt you the most, because when you know those things, you can have a sense of control over those things. And once you know, you can heal. Then I will become invincible!” she explained.

The Ocean Eyes singer continued: “But what I’ve learned… is that time passes and I still have scars. You don’t have to be in pain to get out of pain. “I did it, and I don’t want to do it again.”

But all I can think about is how miserable I am. How helpless and completely lost I was. “Between 13 and 16 years old, it was very difficult.”
