A US Congressional committee summoned Joe Biden’s son and his brother on Wednesday by the Republican opposition, to lead an investigation to hold the president accountable.

Conservatives, who have constituted a majority in the House of Representatives since January, accuse the Democratic leader of lying to the American people about the controversial affairs of his younger son Hunter abroad. This is something the president categorically denies.
Elected officials are particularly critical of Hunter Biden for doing questionable business in Ukraine and China when Joe Biden was Vice President of Barack Obama (2009-2017), taking advantage of his father’s name and networks.
“The House Investigative Committee followed the financial trail and collected a trail of evidence showing how Joe Biden knew about, participated in, and benefited from influence-peddling schemes run by his family,” its leader, James Comer, said in a press release.
The Republican-elect summoned the president’s son and brother, James Biden, before Congress in early December “to question them about this evidence.”
This investigation raises strong opposition from Democrats.
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said: “It has been an investigation that has been ongoing for a year and has not uncovered the slightest error on the part of the president, simply because there is none.”
The investigation has almost no chance of success, but it could become a headache for the White House before the 2024 presidential election, in which Joe Biden is running.
