A family finds their cat more than 300 kilometers from their home

A New Jersey family was surprised when they saw a photo on Facebook of their missing cat who was more than 200 miles (321 kilometers) away from their home.

A woman living in Green Township, New York, found the animal for the first time, and decided to resort to social media to try to find its owner, CNN reported.

“I looked out the window and saw a cat running through the pasture,” Debbie Bates said. I made a post to try to find its owner and say that if no one comes forward, I will keep it.

But a woman from New Jersey called him, much to his surprise.

“I thought it was really weird because I don’t know anyone from New Jersey,” she said. I finally told my husband that we had to call him to ask how we could possibly end up with his cat.

The woman later explained to them that her cat had accidentally jumped into a trailer transporting bales of hay from New Jersey.

The cat’s owners then traveled to Green to pick up their animal.
