The best restaurant in the world will permanently close its doors because serving food as it no longer makes sense

No, it’s not a joke. Noma Restaurant located in Copenhagen, Denmark will be permanently closed.

The restaurant’s heartbreaking announcement comes as the restaurant world is barely recovering from two years of a global pandemic.

The establishment, which welcomed its first customers in 2003, rises to the top of the list of the world’s 50 best restaurants every year. However, to achieve these standards, Noma employees had to accept an unsustainable schedule and very difficult working conditions.

So Klaus Meyer and René Redzepi, the owners of Noma, chose to rethink this formula.

“Financially and emotionally, as a business owner and as a human being, it no longer works,” he explained. Redzepi in an interview with The New York Times.

However, this phenomenon does not only affect noma. In Quebec we can think of Chef Martin Junod who also chose to abandon Pastaga, because he no longer believed in serving food as it is today.
