One of the new features of Windows 11 is widgets. Windows 10’s approach has evolved, it offers interactive content from different apps such as calendar, weather, news, and many more. They all have one thing in common. They are signed to Microsoft.
During the build 2022 event, Microsoft announced that the offering of widgets for Windows 11 will be enriched by the end of the year. It is clear that a huge library was planned. This is possible because the method used is JSON which allows applications or services to exchange data easily.
Windows 11 and gadgets
At the moment, we don’t know exactly how developers will be able to integrate their apps into the Widgets module. However, a document from Redmond confirms that these new third-party tools will have little impact on performance. It is expected to have “low memory and CPU requirements”.
In a few months, Microsoft will allow developers to publish their UI elements through the Windows Store. At the same time, two other new features are expected. Giant plans
- Option to open widgets in full screen mode,
- Function to display content related to business and personal accounts.
Currently, the content depends on the account used. In a future update, Windows 11 will be able to show items from two accounts.
