Transat announces a big novelty for 2024: it will provide direct flights between Montreal and Morocco, specifically the city of Marrakesh. This is the first destination on the African continent for the Quebec company.
Tours will be offered year-round, starting in June, twice a week in summer (Wednesday and Saturday) and once a week in winter (Saturday).
If airlines like Royal Air Maroc or Air Canada already fly regularly to Morocco from Montreal, Transat will be the only one to do so to Marrakesh. It will also be the only airline to do so across North America.
The first flight will depart the runway on June 12, 2024. Reservations are already possible and there are currently tickets listed online starting at $988.
A captivating destination…and one I recently witnessed
Marrakesh is located in the heart of the country, and is the third largest city in Morocco (tied with Fez), after Casablanca and Tangier. He is recovering from a very serious 6.8 magnitude earthquake, which occurred on September 8, 2023, and made headlines around the world.
This ancient imperial city is known to travelers, among other things, for its old city (medina), its souks (markets), its hammams (spas) and riads, and its traditional houses transformed into magnificent inns.
As for the rest of the country, it offers surfing beaches, as well as desert with idyllic sand dunes, high mountains, historic cities, gastronomy and renowned hospitality.
