Tizi: Inauguration of the renovated multipurpose room now called “Espace Pierre Laborde”

If this renovation is carried out this year, it must be remembered that the project was initiated by the previous municipal council, and was resumed in this state with the complexities of the pandemic and the economic context.

A reception room was created

Nicola Maughan presented a list of improvements to the room: thermal and acoustic insulation of the ceiling, comprehensive renovation of the sanitary blocks, updating of various standards (including accessibility), installation of a stunning glass wall and design of the play area for playing. Pilota on the wall on the left, creating offices, meeting rooms and storage space for associations…

An adjacent reception room was also created in place of the old library now in the school collection. It seats 80 people, is heated and air-conditioned, has a stunning view of the play area, a herbal tea point, a balcony, an equipped kitchen and a fully equipped car park.

Nicolas Mougins then presented the companies involved in this project, with a total budget of €1,300,000 (including €465,753 in subsidies), under the leadership of the architectural firm of Thierry Mette and Christian Laluca. The budget was respected despite the economic uncertainty. He ended his speech by thanking all partners before giving the floor to Mayor David Doizedo.

The latter began by greeting the guests (1) among whom were, of course, Pierre and Christian Laborde and their family, including three of their four children, Jean-Luc and his partner Marie-Ange, and Christophe, his wife and their daughter.

He then returned at length to the life of Pierre Laborde, born in Tizi, a farmer in the city, who ran the family farm, and to his rich life as an elected official, mainly as mayor. He spoke of the many achievements demonstrated during the four terms of the man who to this day remains an honorary mayor, and the precious participation of his wife Christiane in village life, through the creation of a succession of rural families, the origin of the nursery.

Elected officials also took turns speaking to salute Pierre Laborde and the beautiful renovation of this hall, which is popular with local associations.

After these numerous and well-deserved honors, a rustic buffet was served. The evening was particularly enlivened by the friendly atmosphere, with the tunes of the Bernese Choir, improvised by the local elected officials, for those who arrived late, and whose choruses echoed in the drawing room. A warm evening full of friendship accompanied by dishes prepared by the caterer Chez Julian and the Spar.

Pierre Laborde, a man very involved in municipal life, was elected in 1959

Pierre Laborde was first elected in 1959, alongside Mayor Luis Nabarro, and took a two-term break before returning, this time as mayor, in March 1977, a position he held until March 2021 before leaving the chamber.
He will be succeeded by David Doizedo. The latter will pay tribute to Pierre’s “charity, availability and friendship on which he was always able to rely.” Pierre Laborde celebrated his 95th birthday on September 9.
