Supreme Court suspends transfer of Trump tax returns to Congress

Donald Trump, who has been struggling for years to keep his tax returns secret, got another reprieve from the US Supreme Court on Tuesday.

A House panel, however, has been demanding, by Democrats, since 2019 documents that the former Republican president sent to tax authorities between 2015 and 2020.

But, unlike all the tenants of the White House since the 1970s, Donald Trump has always refused to release his tax returns and has fought so hard in court to block the congressional petition.

After many episodes, the Federal Court of Appeals finally allowed tax authorities last week to turn these documents over to the commission, which would have taken place before the November 8 midterm elections.

The real estate mogul then sent a final urgent appeal to the United States Supreme Court.

In accordance with its practice, it suspended the transfer on Tuesday pending the availability of items for a determination on the merits. She asked the committee to provide her with her arguments by 10 November, and she should make up her mind widely.

Although deeply reformed by Donald Trump, the Supreme Court has caused many setbacks in this matter, and in particular in 2020 authorized the transfer of financial documents to the New York justice investigating its affairs.
