Rose’s Journey: The Adventure of a Lifetime for 6 Morrissey Women

Six Morrissey women and friends are not shy, but thirsty for adventure as they prepare to live the experience of their lives: an ordeal in the Moroccan desert, an all-feminine defiance and a noble cause.

Jessanne Lacerte calls herself and her colleagues crazy. They are thirsty for adventure and for many it is not their first great sporting challenge, but this is the first time they have undertaken an adventure as majestic as the Rose Trip in the Moroccan desert.

It is a very long journey, as they will cover more than twenty kilometers every day for three days.

The goal is to find markers every day while covering the least possible distance. The equipment list is short. They are only entitled to a compass, a map and a topographical protractor.

A little training will allow them to learn how their three tools work.

“If we lose focus, that’s where our pen is, and we won’t check it. We’ll look for it and we’ll increase our mileage. We’ll actually do 22 to 25 kilometres. I’d like to go back to the bivouac in the evening,” said Jessanne Lacerte, laughing. .

We’re not talking about a few weeks or months of training, but more than a year of preparation. The two teams trained together.

They climbed mountains with a height difference of 700 meters to imitate desert dunes. They did hot yoga to get used to the heat of the place. They strengthened their legs to reduce pain during the challenge. Not to mention that they walked hundreds of kilometers.

“We have to live a day with our backpack, with all our supplies in it, and we have to try on our shoes, and our walking sticks. It’s not just a short walk down the street,” explained Vicky Lavigne, who participates in the challenge.

But why decide to take on a challenge like the Rose Trip Trek? Among other things, for the renewal and reflection that they will have to do on themselves, but also for the cause.

All participants knew someone near or far who had already had breast cancer. The challenge requires fundraising to help pay for the adventure, which costs $12,000 per team, but also to support various charities such as the Pink Ribbon for Breast Cancer.

The six women are ready and are now making their final preparations. They will board the plane within a week and begin their three-day adventure on October 26.
