NHL: Joel Edmondson is injured for loss; Cole Cofield will speak on Friday

The list of names in the Canadian infirmary may have lengthened in the first period against the Red Wings on Thursday.

Joel Edmundson and Christian Dvorak left the game in the first period. In the case of Edmondson, he was unable to complete the match, while Dvorak returned to the match afterwards.

Among the club’s other injured players, Cole Caufield, whose season has ended, will meet the media on Friday morning. CH announced this evening that he would take stock of his situation and the process awaiting him on his shoulder.

Edmondson was knocked out midway through the first period after a sequence in which his skate appeared to bite into the rink as he tried to block Michael Rasmussen from the Habs.

The veteran defender attempted to skate the next stop, but then fell back into the locker room. The Canadian confirmed that he will not return to the game due to a lower-body problem.

For his part, Dvorak appeared to be hurt when he made contact with Josh Anderson while trying to block his throw with his knee low to the rink. Dvorak went on to chase pain off the bench for players before returning to the fray as he blocked a slap reception from Jordan Osterell.

Number 28 finished the period on the bench for the team, but did not return at the start of the second half. However, the center found his teammates off the Canadian bench with just over 13 minutes to play midway through the period.
