Martin Mattei Live: “I’m not afraid to settle down, I want to reinvent myself” – Pierre-Yves Roy Desmarais

Pierre-Yves Roy Desmarais elegantly wrapped up the tour of his first show, “Jokes, Chapeau, Maman, Magie, Piano,” at the Bell Center last July, with Olivier, the comedian and author of the year, for the show.

Aware of the audience’s expectations regarding his upcoming show, the comedian admitted to Martin Mattei on Thursday evening that he wants to reinvent himself.

“I’m not afraid to settle down, I want to reinvent myself. I can hardly rebel against my show, but rather present something different from what I’ve already done,” he said as he sat in the chair of the week’s guest on “Martin Matty Live.”

“That was really my motivation; I wanted something that felt like me and was original,” he added, explaining that he wanted to evolve.

Dressed in leather for the first part of the show, a nod to the look of ’90s comedians, particularly Martin’s look in 1996, Pierre-Yves Roy Desmarais also told the host that he had time to come see the end of his first show, but was a little nervous about the rest.

“I felt a little dizzy […]. I’m still afraid. There was a bit of a surprise that people weren’t expecting me, but there is anticipation for the next ‘show’. Above all, it is a learning experience for me not to try to project people’s expectations into what I will do.

A message from Simon and a new slide

Pierre-Yves Roy Desmarais opened a new and completely crazy improvisational segment on Thursday evening, in which characters and scenarios are randomly suggested.

The week’s guest was clearly eligible for his musical biography of Les Appendeux as well as a surprise message from Simon Proulx, leader of the Les Trois Accords group.

Fun time wrestling with Maude Landry

Comedian Maud Landry Martin visited Matty on Thursday evening at Espace Saint Denis to present a topic on the fight. Then I had fun creating an alter ego for host Martin Lotor King.

For his part, Martin Mattei seemed more in control of his group. He opened his show with comments he received on social media and his usual review of current events.

Under the musical direction of Dumas, “Martin Matte en direct” is shown every Thursday, at 8 p.m., on TVA. Host Julie Le Breton will host next week.
