The visit by the South Korean presidential couple will be marked by the opening of talks on Wednesday, November 22, aimed at a free trade agreement and a new military partnership against North Korea. The South Korean president, quoted by local media at a cabinet meeting last week, called the London trip “a springboard to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing scientific and technological cooperation”. The United Kingdom, for its part, has sought to sign free trade deals since Brexit, with the Conservative government talking up new possibilities allowed by leaving the EU. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who will receive Eun Suk Yeol on Wednesday, called London and Seoul “natural partners.”
