Headphones that can detect your vital signs

At CES 2024, Sennheiser just introduced Momentum Sport wireless headphones capable of measuring heart rate and body temperature. Enough to improve your sports monitoring with music!

The German audio company Sennheiser took advantage of the CES exhibition currently being held in Las Vegas to announce several new products: the Momentum True Wireless 4 headphones with dynamic equalizer, the Accentum Plus headphones with their own touch controls, and the Momentum Sports headphones. These are the first wireless headphones from Sennheiser to integrate heart rate and body temperature sensors, in order to better support athletes' physical efforts. Is it enough to turn into a major asset?

Sennheiser Momentum Sport: headphones for sports music lovers

The Sennheiser Momentum Sport is equipped with silicone fins for better support. It includes two biometric sensors: one to measure heart rate via photoplethysmography (PPG) and the other to measure body temperature. Data that can be easily transferred to the most popular sports apps and different smart watches, such as Apple Watch/Health, Garmin Watch/Connect, Strava, Peloton, and many more. Momentum Sport also benefits from comprehensive integration within the Polar ecosystem, in particular through its compatibility with the Polar Flow app, so far reserved for the brand's namesake products, which allows body temperature to be analyzed and real-time information obtained during training. .

Other than that, the Momentum Sport integrates adaptive ANC technology “Acoustic channel and semi-open design to enhance natural awareness of surroundings, while reducing footsteps, breathing and other body-related distractions.”. It features transparency, anti-wind and adaptive noise reduction modes that dynamically adapt to the environment. It's IP55 certified, which means it has limited protection against dust and water – or rather, sweat – and the case is IP54 certified. Sennheiser ensures that it has not sacrificed the audio performance of its headphones by equipping them with 10mm drivers, compatible with Bluetooth 5.2, and support for the aptX Adaptive codec. Its autonomy is 6 hours and 24 hours with the case that includes a battery. Ten minutes of fast charging via a USB-C cable should get you up to 45 minutes of audio playback. The Momentum Sport will be available on April 9 for 300 euros in three colors: black, olive green and metallic grey.
