Gemont General Hospital: space and new projects

basic
The user area of the Gemont Hospital Center has been launched recently. The chance to meet the new director Jean-Claude Thiol.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your background?

After the first part of my career as a caregiver, already an anesthetist nurse at the University Hospital of Nice, I wanted to serve the general hospital by committing myself to the profession of director of the institution, this since 2006.: first from each deputy director in the human resources department, then I directed CH of Saint-Girons prior to his appointment to the joint management of Lombez, Samatan and L’Isle-Jourdain hospitals last July and Gimont. I discover Gers and her projects with great pleasure.

How is Gemont General Hospital performing in 2023?

I discovered teams who were totally committed, despite the years of health crisis they had just faced: humanity and a sense of community shining through in all the exchanges. Moreover, I was very well received. We are fortunate to work with a highly invested liberal medical community, and the City-Hospital relationship is fully integrated into our operations; In addition, the relations with the municipality are excellent and the commitment of Senior City Councilor Franck Villeneuve to our side is very valuable. Difficulties exist of course, particularly the attractiveness of General Hospital to health professionals, but the staffing dynamic is clearly present and very well organized by the HR department and management team.

Can you tell us about this new user space?

The opening of the user area very clearly indicates the organization’s commitment to consider the users’ voice in order to continuously improve the quality of care and to listen to patients and their families. This space that will allow user representatives to meet every two weeks (1any Wednesday of the month at the hospital site; 3H Wed of the month on Ehpad (Editor’s note: Create accommodation for dependent seniors Saint-Hippolyte), created as part of the just-formulated Users project. The User Project outlines our joint action plan to raise awareness of the role of user representatives in public hospitals and to promote the rights of people who are hospitalized and cared for in nursing homes. This space is available to our user representatives and I can’t help but be pleased with their dynamism and participation. I also want to widely applaud the essential involvement of the volunteers along with our healthcare teams. We believe that user engagement is the foundation for continuous improvement of the quality of care provided.
