She was involved in her husband Jimmy Carter’s campaigns and political career, and was distinguished throughout her life by her commitment to democracy, human rights, and health issues, with a global network of philanthropic activities.

“Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will be honored and celebrated at a private funeral Wednesday morning at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, the church where she lived,” the Carter Center said in a statement.

The foundation added on its X account (formerly Twitter): “The ceremony will be followed by a private burial at her home.”

Jimmy Carter, President of the United States between 1977 and 1981, who is 99 years old and has been treated in palliative care since February, attended the ceremony on Tuesday in Atlanta (Georgia) in the presence of other former heads of state and first ladies. So is current White House host Joe Biden.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter married in 1946 and formed an inseparable couple in public and private life.

Rosalynn Carter died on November 19, two days after entering a nursing home.
