This is a popular podcast Spitin ChikletsWhich was hosted by former player Paul Bissonnette who made the allegations. Citing an unnamed NHL player, Bissonnette said Babcock, who is starting his first season behind the Jackets’ bench, called team captain Boone Jenner into his office. The pilot then allegedly asked the attacker to connect to a TV to review images on his device, in order to “figure out what kind of person” the 30-year-old was.

Neither Babcock nor Jenner have yet commented on the situation. According to Bortzlin, the Players Association has also looked into the matter.

The 60-year-old, who won the Stanley Cup in 2008 with the Detroit Red Wings, has a rich history. Former players who worked with him in Detroit, where he spent a decade, described him as an intimidating person. And in Toronto, where he spent just under five seasons, tactics that were deemed inappropriate with rookie players, particularly Mitch Marner, were highlighted. Quickly, after the Leafs showed him the door in November 2019, he was labeled an outcast.

For three and a half years, he stayed away from the NHL. Then at 1^any Last July, when his expensive contract with the Maple Leafs expired, the Blue Jackets announced his hiring to great fanfare.

Jarmo Kakalainen and John Davidson, general manager and president of hockey operations respectively, confirmed that they consulted many people before making their decision. In their eyes, Babcock was “the best coach available” as well as “the best person” to take charge behind the bench.
