A martial arts expert punches a kangaroo that tried to drown his dog

A former Australian police officer and martial arts enthusiast has mauled a 7-foot-tall kangaroo that was trying to drown his dog in the Murray River in Mildura, Victoria.

The video of the fight between the kangaroo and this Australian received more than 2.5 million views on the TikTok application before it was deleted.

“I saw a kangaroo with its arms in the water, looking straight at me,” Mick Moloney told Channel 7 News.

The former police officer, who practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu, was walking along the river when he noticed one of his dogs, Hachi, was nowhere to be found.

As for them, his other dogs behaved calmly, but they did not venture down to the river as usual.

It was then that the man allegedly discovered the 7-foot-tall kangaroo with its submerged arms holding his panting dog by the sink.

In a video clip filmed by the former police officer, we can see him rushing towards the marsupial, asking him to leave his dog, and hitting him in the face.

However, the majestic animal appears to retaliate by hitting the man with its paw.

Fortunately, the man and his dog escaped unharmed.

“I got some scratches,” Moloney says. “My forearm was killing me most of the day.”

Wildlife expert Graeme Coulson from the University of Melbourne said it was normal for kangaroos to retreat into the water to escape attacks. This is a survival instinct.
