Saturday, April 9, 2022, Faculty of Science, Mohammed V University in Rabat. The Averroès Foundation was born after a general meeting that led to the election of the members of the Board of Directors and the adoption of a statute and charter. The Foundation aspires to become a place for exchange, a space for reflection and discussion and an institution for the production of ideas and projects with the participation of academics, researchers, decision-makers, social and economic actors, companies and experts from different backgrounds who are able to contribute to the promotion of scientific research, innovation and sustainable development in Morocco.
The foundation also aims to be a space for in-depth reflection on topics revolving around artificial intelligence, digital technologies, renewable energies, health sciences, medicinal and aromatic plant promotion, biodiversity, and the environment. The Constituent General Assembly was also an opportunity to formulate the Foundation’s action plan, remembering the recommendations of the new development model, including the promotion of scientific research, research and development and the innovation part of the prerequisites for accelerating and upgrading the development path in Morocco. to the rank of countries with sustainable competitiveness.
The work of this Assembly was concluded with the appointment of Mr. Badr El-Din Qurta as President of the Foundation and the formation of the Board of Directors, which in turn elected an office for the next three years. They are Professor Omar Momkashi, Vice President in charge of Scientific Research, Professor Yunus Bakali Karfa, Vice President in charge of Innovation, Professor Hana El-Manfalouti, Vice President in charge of Sustainable Development, Professor Lubna Terzaz, Secretary General, Professor Kawthar. Taha, Deputy Secretary-General, Ms. Lalla Amina Ouzouet, Treasurer of the Foundation, Mr. Abdelhakim Bou Yahya, Deputy Treasurer, Ms. Nada Khaira Sabbar, Counsellor, Ms. Sidi Mohamed Douiri, and Mr. Hassan Ait Houssein, Advisers. In conclusion, the members of the Constituent General Assembly expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation to the President of the University and the Dean of the College of Science for the interest they showed in establishing this institution.
