Wise decision to keep Primo

Everyone agrees that a family with three guardians is not ideal. But the Canadian is doing a good job of keeping Kayden Primeau around for now.

Not just because there’s a strong risk of losing it on waivers. But also and above all the fact that Samuel Montembault and Jake Allen showed inconsistency during the preparatory matches.

They both maintained goals against averages above four and save percentages well below .900.

Primo fared better with a goals against average of 2.05 and an average efficiency of 0.932 on shots against.

If Montembo or Allen goes down and Primo is no longer around to take over, the Canadian will have to look outside his organization to find a goaltender with National League experience.

Primo has the right physique for the job, standing six feet three inches tall and weighing 207 pounds. He had his best moment with the Laval Rocket when the Habs’ farm club reached the MLS Final in 2022.

He did not have the success expected last season, but he is still relatively young at 24 years old. He will choose his moment well if he finds a way to assert himself this season.

What do you do with Jeremiah?

It was expected: Joel Armia passed off waivers without anyone claiming him. Which means that the Canadian will be able to send it to the Laval missile.

Would this be a good option?

It will just depend on the person in question. If Jeremiah shows up at the Rocket with his head between his legs, he won’t be a good ally for many of the young men who will play for the Habs’ school team.

He will have to adopt the same attitude as Karl Elzner who behaved like a professional in his two seasons at Laval.
