Ukraine says it shot down a missile and 20 drones overnight

Ukraine announced that it shot down a missile and 20 Russian drones during the night from Saturday to Sunday, while Russia, for its part, said that it destroyed 33 Ukrainian drones.

The Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement, “The Russian occupation forces attacked with an Iskander-K cruise missile, a Kh-59 guided missile, and 20 Shahed attack drones.”

She added that the Ukrainian forces shot down the drones as well as the Kh-59 missile, and the Iskander-K missile did not hit its target, explaining that the missiles were launched from the Crimean Peninsula and the occupied region of Kherson (south).

On the Russian side, the Ministry of Defense indicated that its forces “intercepted and destroyed” 33 Ukrainian drones in three border regions (Lipetsk, Rostov, and Volgograd).

Ukrainian drone attacks have become almost daily in Russian regions bordering Ukraine. In recent months, they have also targeted the Russian capital, Moscow, and its surrounding areas.

For its part, Russia bombs Ukrainian cities on a daily basis. This week, it carried out a large-scale drone attack on southern Ukraine and targeted Kiev using ballistic missiles, the wreckage of which injured about fifty people.
