The Dash 8 aircraft is equipped with Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) technology, capable of tracking illegal activities in water using advanced imaging and radar systems.

The aircraft will also bring British immigration enforcement officers to identify the pilots of the small boats and investigate the smugglers behind these operations.

The aircraft will be used for an initial period of eighteen months.

Britain’s asylum system faces a dire situation, with the number of migrants arriving in small boats doubling from 28,500 in 2021 to 45,700 in 2022.

The Force Multiplier program is currently used for surveillance, search and rescue and law enforcement operations in Canada, the Dutch Caribbean and the United Arab Emirates.
