The Kremlin said on Friday that Vladimir Putin would not send New Year’s wishes to US Presidents Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Schultz, amid a crisis between Moscow and the West since Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

These counterparts do not send us any wishes. In fact, we have no contact with them. “Given the unfriendly actions that they constantly do, the president will not send them my regards,” Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian presidency, told reporters.
On the contrary, Vladimir Putin has already sent his Happy New Year 2023 wishes to many of the leaders closest to the Kremlin.
According to a list published by the Russian presidency on Friday, Vladimir Putin has particularly congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, Venezuelan Nicolas Maduro and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Kremlin, it has also sent its regards to two former Western leaders, the Italian Silvio Berlusconi and the German Gerhard Schroeder.
