Presence of Norovirus | Alasco brand frozen fruit recall

(Montreal) On Saturday, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a recall of bags of Alasco Brand frozen whole raspberries and frozen antioxidant blend due to the presence of norovirus.

The two products were sold in one- and five-kilogram containers in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec.

The main symptoms of diseases caused by norovirus are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and abdominal cramps.

The agency said that people who have been exposed to the virus usually develop symptoms within 24 to 48 hours, but symptoms may appear as early as 12 hours after exposure.

It is advised, as with any illness that causes diarrhea or vomiting, to drink plenty of fluids to replace lost body fluids and prevent dehydration.

This frozen fruit must not be eaten, used, sold, served or distributed. They must be discarded or returned to the place where they were purchased.
